Texas A&M University-Texarkana student dies in car accident

A student at Texas A&M University-Texarkana in Texarkana, TX was killed in a car accident on Thursday, July 16, according to an email from the university’s president, Emily Cutrer.

The victim was identified as Ana Arellano, an undergraduate student from Horatio, Arkansas and who was supposed to be returning to the university this fall as a sophomore.

Cutrer said that the “loss comes at a time that our campus is still healing from November’s tragic accident” wherein three college students – one of whom was Daniel Gonzalez and was “a very close friend of Ana’s” – were killed on Interstate 30 when their car was rear-ended by an 18-wheeler.

Cutrer is inviting those who feel inclined to help to donate financial assistance for Arellano’s burial expenses by contacting LeAnne Wright at [email protected].
