Two teenagers were killed in an automobile accident in Lubbock County, according to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal on April 27.

According to reports by the Department of Public Safety, Justice Chavez, 17, was driving a two-door Pontiac that also carried 16-year-old Alicia Ramos when the vehicle was hit at the intersection of Country Road 6100 and Farm to Market Road 179. Chavez was declared dead at the scene of the accident, while Ramos succumbed to her injuries later at the University Medical Center. The Pontiac was crashed into by a Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Douglas Fairbanks and carrying his 10-year-old son. The Truck was traveling northbound on FM 179 when it hit the teens’ vehicle.

College station three car crash injures one

A three-vehicle pileup in Brazos County on July 9 left one man injured and closed down traffic for more than three hours, The Eagle reported.

According to Lieutenant Chuck Fleeger, an 18-wheeler, a sport utility vehicle, and a pickup truck were all traveling northbound toward Barron Road after 1:00 p.m. when the semi-truck slowed down due to traffic. The SUV slowed down just behind it, but the pickup truck did not register this in time. The SUV driver attempted to swerve out of the way when it became apparent that the pickup truck was not stopping, and the pickup ended up hitting both the SUV and the semi-truck.

The pickup truck driver, a 22-year-old San Antonio man, was taken to the hospital for injuries.
