Two teenagers were killed in an automobile accident in Lubbock County, according to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal on April 27.
According to reports by the Department of Public Safety, Justice Chavez, 17, was driving a two-door Pontiac that also carried 16-year-old Alicia Ramos when the vehicle was hit at the intersection of Country Road 6100 and Farm to Market Road 179. Chavez was declared dead at the scene of the accident, while Ramos succumbed to her injuries later at the University Medical Center. The Pontiac was crashed into by a Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Douglas Fairbanks and carrying his 10-year-old son. The Truck was traveling northbound on FM 179 when it hit the teens’ vehicle.
Shallowater principal Tom Johnson said that students gathered at the high school in remembrance of the two students. Chavez played for the high school football team and received an honorable mention as a defensive lineman in an all-District competition last season.
A suspected drunk driver in a pickup truck hit the back of Jennifer Lopez’s SUV, driven at the time by actress Leah Remini, according to a CBS DFW article on September 27.
Lopez and her two children were passengers in the vehicle when the accident took place at the 22700 block of the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident, but the perpetrator attempted to flee the scene when the celebrities asked for his information. Merely minutes later, the suspect was apprehended by police authorities.

A three-vehicle pileup in Brazos County on July 9 left one man injured and closed down traffic for more than three hours, The Eagle reported.
According to Lieutenant Chuck Fleeger, an 18-wheeler, a sport utility vehicle, and a pickup truck were all traveling northbound toward Barron Road after 1:00 p.m. when the semi-truck slowed down due to traffic. The SUV slowed down just behind it, but the pickup truck did not register this in time. The SUV driver attempted to swerve out of the way when it became apparent that the pickup truck was not stopping, and the pickup ended up hitting both the SUV and the semi-truck.
The pickup truck driver, a 22-year-old San Antonio man, was taken to the hospital for injuries.
